A healthy relationship with our tools

Living with AI

Rather than a machine for answers, a companion for widening thought. How can we enjoy convenience without surrendering our own touch?

AI is certainly fast. Ask and an answer returns, saving time spent uncertain. Yet as we become accustomed to that speed, we may gradually surrender the slightly troublesome practice of thinking for ourselves.

Tools change the outlines of the people using them. Someone writing with a fountain pen thinks to a different rhythm from someone at a keyboard. Living with AI likewise makes deciding what to entrust and what to keep in our own hands the most human part of the work.

I do not reject convenience. I simply want deliberately to retain the detours and tangible experiences outside efficiency. Before asking a machine, ask ourselves once more. That single pause may be the smallest skill for living well with AI.
